ARTICLES OF FAITH
ARTICLES OF FAITH
1. We believe in one true and living God, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are One. 1 John 5:7; John 1:1, Deut. 6:4.
2. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testament are the Word of God and the only rule of Faith and practice. II Timothy 3:16, Rom. 15:4, II Peter 1:20, 21.
3. We believe in the doctrine of election by grace according to the foreknowledge of God, and that God chose His people in Christ before the foundation of the world. Eph. 1:4, II Tim. 1:9, I Peter 1:2.
4. We believe in the Fall of man, and that he is incapable of recovering himself therefrom. Rom 3:9-23, Rom. 5:12; John 6:44; Rom. 8:6-8.
5. We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness of Christ. Rom 4:25; Titus 3:5-6; I Cor. 1:30; II Cor. 5:21.
6. We believe in regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that God's Elect shall be called. II Tim. :9; John 6:37,63.
7. We believe that the Saints shall be preserved and persevere in grace and never fall finally away. John 10:27-29, I Peter 1:5; Eph. 4:30; Jude 1:1.
8. We believe in the resurrection of the dead and a general judgement and that the punishment of the wicked and the joys of the righteous shall be eternal. Act 24:15; John 5:28, 29; Acts 17:31; Matt. 25:31-34, 41, 46.
9. We believe that baptism, the Lord's Supper and washing of the saint's feet are ordinances of Jesus Christ, and that true believers are the only proper subjects; and immersion in water is the only true mode of baptism; and persons administering the ordinances, who differ from the foregoing either in faith or practice are, by us, regarded not legal. Matt. 3:13-17; Matt. 28:18-20; Luke 22:19, 20; Acts 2:41; 8:36-38; Matt 26:26-28.
10. We believe only ministers who have been scripturally baptized, called and come under the hands of the presbytery, have the right to administer the ordinances of the church. Acts 13:2, 3; John 15:16, Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5; I Tim. 4:14; Heb. 5:1-4.
11. We believe that none but scripturally baptized members have the right to commune at the Lord's table. Luke 22:14; Acts 2:41-42; I Cor. 10:21.
12. We believe, from experience, that no good can result to the church of Christ from any secret organization; therefore, we declare non fellowship with any church of this Association who has any member in her fellowship who has a membership in any such organization under any name whatsoever they may be called. II Cor.6:14-17; Rev. 18:4.
